A Learning Experience - 9.7.2010

Respect age, intelligence, kindness, style – in that order, at all times.

Do not respect money, power, fame, ripped jeans – if nothing else is available.

Nostalgia gives off a distinct impression. Done correctly, it's engaging and exciting. Done incorrectly, it's deeply offensive.

No matter how hard you try, the hat isn't coming back in style (doesn't mean you can't wear one though).

But do take your hat off indoors, that's just ridiculous.

Wearing non-prescription glasses as fashion is the epitome of superficiality and everyone knows it.

If your skin tone can support the color yellow, please wear it for the rest of us who can't.

The coin pocket on a pair of five-pocket pants is the least used pocket in menswear.

Nerf guns wouldn't sell as well to college students if someone actively marketed them to that demographic.

Leather jackets: yes. Leather hats: sometimes. Leather pants: never.

Never tell someone to fuck off with a smile on your face or in your heart. It's the ugliest possible thing to do.

The invitation is a lost art.

Somewhere along the line, artists have to figure out how not to think only about themselves.

The unwarranted but troubling feeling you get that causes you to wonder if you are fundamentally wrong about everything is proof that you are likely already on the right track.

You are cool. You are so very, very cool.
